Mirelle pressed her palm against the worn stone wall of the council chamber and took a deep breath. She'd waited three years for this moment. Today, she would present her proposal to the city magistrates—a grand academy where young mages could compete for knowledge and prove their worth. The room smelled of old parchment and candle wax. She clutched her proposal scroll tighter. Her dream was simple: create a place where talent mattered more than birthright. The heavy doors swung open. Three magistrates sat behind a curved table, their faces blank. Mirelle stepped forward and unrolled her scroll. She spoke about stone halls and practice chambers, about competitions that would test real skill. The magistrates listened. One nodded. Another asked about the building itself. Mirelle described a structure of stone and wood, tall enough to be seen from across the city. The academy would stand as proof that any mage could rise through hard work. The council approved her proposal by midday. Mirelle left the chamber with signed documents and a plot of land. Her hands shook as she walked through the market square. She stopped at a woodworker's shop and ordered a large bulletin board made of dark wood. It would display announcements about the academy. She planned to post it where everyone could see it—a call for students who wanted to learn. By evening, Mirelle stood in her workshop. She held up a sphere that shimmered with colored light. The elemental mana core contained traces of fire, water, earth, and air. Students would use it to practice control, learning to guide wind and other forces. She set it on her table next to her other teaching tools. The academy was real now. Soon, young mages would gather to compete and grow stronger together.
