Chapter 1

Johnny Hazard crouched on the rooftop, his tactical vest heavy against his orange fur. Below, a corrupt politician climbed into his armored car. Johnny's paws tightened around his binoculars. He'd spent months tracking dirty money and backdoor deals. Soon he'd have enough proof to strike. But one hamster couldn't do this alone. He needed a team—warriors who'd fight beside him to take down every corrupt elite bleeding Zaar dry. The next morning, Johnny stood at the edge of a massive hole in the sandy ground. A rickety ladder disappeared into darkness below. A weathered sign leaned against a rock: "The Bullet Hole." He'd found it weeks ago while tracking weapon smugglers through the desert. Now it would serve a different purpose. Johnny climbed down, his boots scraping against wood. The underground cave stretched wide, cool and hidden from the world above. Perfect for storing weapons. Perfect for training. Perfect for building his militia. He pulled out a worn notebook and started writing names—fighters he'd watched, veterans he'd met, anyone who might join his cause. The corrupt elites had money and power. But Johnny had something better: nothing left to lose and everything to fight for. By afternoon, Johnny trudged through the desert heat toward a shabby café. The sign read "The Spetsnaz Cafe" in faded letters. He pushed through the door. Inside, the air smelled like gun oil and old coffee. A few customers sat at tables, eyes sharp and watchful. Johnny walked to a bulletin board on the back wall. Someone had pinned a photo of a judge who took bribes. Another paper listed names of missing workers from a factory. This place was more than it looked. People came here to share what they knew. Johnny pulled out a small card and pinned it to the board. It showed a simple symbol—a bullet hole—and coordinates to his underground base. Anyone who wanted to fight back would know where to find him. He turned and left, his boots kicking up dust. The militia was growing, one recruit at a time. That evening, Johnny spotted something that made his fur stand on end. A vantablack watchtower hovered above the sand in the distance, its spotlight sweeping back and forth. The beam cut through the darkness like a searching claw. Johnny dropped flat against the ground. The elites were watching. They had eyes everywhere, scanning for anyone who stepped out of line. But Johnny had eyes too now. He had The Bullet Hole for planning. He had The Spetsnaz Cafe for gathering information. And he had a fire in his chest that wouldn't go out. The watchtower's light passed over his position and moved on. Johnny stood and brushed sand from his vest. Let them watch. Soon they'd see something they couldn't stop—an army of the forgotten, rising from the desert to take back what was stolen.
