Üghar pressed her green palms against the weathered wooden sign and smiled. The painted letters spelled out "Üghar's Rest" in bold strokes. She'd finally found the perfect spot along the road to Heartyvile. Travelers passed by every day, tired and dusty from their journeys. Here she would build her tavern. A place where strangers could sit together, share their tales, and make promises that mattered. Her dream was simple but strong—give people a home between homes. Just beyond the clearing stood the massive skeleton of a black dragon. Its bones rose from the earth like ancient pillars, bleached white by sun and rain. Travelers always stopped here to stare at the fallen beast. They would rest in its shadow and trade stories about how it died. Üghar ran her hand along one enormous rib. This was exactly what she needed—something to draw people in and make them want to stay. She marked out the space for her gathering hall with rope and wooden stakes. Stone walls would keep the wind out. A central hearth would warm cold hands and dry wet boots. Long wooden benches would give people places to sit side by side. In her mind, she could already hear the voices and laughter echoing off the walls. Near the dragon's skull, she found an old stone well. She peered into its dark depths and heard a faint whisper echo back. The sound sent a chill down her spine, but she grinned. This well would be perfect for sworn oaths. When travelers made promises here, they would feel the weight of their words. Üghar's Rest would give people more than food and shelter—it would give them a place where their promises meant something real.
