Glim walked through Zyzzle Junction with his practice deck tucked in his jacket pocket. The streets buzzed with performers, vendors, and travelers from distant worlds. He needed to find the place where real magicians gathered—somewhere that would show him what mastery truly looked like. His orange eyes scanned the crowd until he spotted a tall building with towers that stretched toward the sky. The structure gleamed in the afternoon light, its walls smooth and polished. This had to be it. He pushed through the entrance and found himself in a hall filled with magicians practicing their craft. Cards floated through the air. Coins vanished and reappeared. Scarves changed colors mid-flight. Glim's tentacles trembled as he watched them work. These performers made magic look effortless. He found an empty corner and pulled out his deck. His webbed fingers moved through the shuffles he'd learned, faster now, smoother. The other magicians barely glanced his way, but that didn't matter. He was here, in the place where dreams became real. Three months until the competition. He could see his future now—standing on that stage, proving he belonged. Later that afternoon, Glim left the building and spotted something in the town square. A table stood beneath the open sky, glowing with neon lights that pulsed from pink to blue to green. The surface shimmered, and cards lay spread across it in perfect formation. A small crowd gathered around, watching a performer execute a complex shuffle. Glim pushed closer and noticed words carved into the base. Names filled the inscription—magicians who had achieved perfection with a single trick. His tentacles tightened around his practice deck. These masters had started somewhere, just like him. They had failed and tried again until they got it right. The neon lights cast colors across his purple jacket. This table honored those who never gave up. Zyzzle Junction celebrated magicians who proved their worth through hard work and skill. Glim pulled out his deck and practiced a simple cut right there, his webbed fingers steady. Three months would be enough. This world showed him that mastery was real, and he would earn his place among the legends. As evening came, Glim noticed something floating above the crowd. A small hologram drifted through the air, displaying the word "GLIM" in bright, shifting colors. His orange eyes widened. Someone had created this display for him. The letters rotated slowly, catching the light from the neon table below. People stopped to look at it, pointing and talking among themselves. Glim's tentacles curled with surprise. This was what performers did when they had a show worth announcing. His webbed fingers touched the cards in his pocket. He wasn't ready yet, but Zyzzle Junction was already treating him like he belonged. The hologram floated higher, visible from blocks away. This world wanted him to succeed. Later that night, Glim found a building with neon lights that flickered across its walls. The colors reminded him of old photographs, faded but still bright enough to draw him inside. Performers sat at tables, drinking and talking about their acts. Some practiced coin tricks while they spoke. Others sketched out ideas on napkins. Glim walked to an empty seat and ordered water. A magician at the next table nodded at him, then went back to practicing a card move. Nobody asked questions. Nobody laughed at his tentacles or his worn jacket.
