Thalia Windsong gripped the worn rope in her hands and stared up at the massive trees of Breezewood. High above in the canopy, platforms and bridges connected the treetops where the legendary Skywheel Performers lived and trained. She wanted to join them more than anything—to soar between the branches and earn their respect. But first, she had to prove herself worthy. She made her way through the forest until she reached the base of the training grounds. A wooden pole stood nearby, adorned with colorful fabric strips that fluttered in the breeze. The ribbons danced and twisted, showing her the wind was steady today. Perfect conditions for climbing. Thalia began her ascent up the thick trunk. Her muscles burned as she pulled herself higher and higher. The rope helped, but her arms did most of the work. Halfway up, she spotted a performance stage nestled among the branches. Crowds must gather there to watch the Skywheel Performers practice their routines. She climbed past the stage and reached the top level just as the sun broke through the leaves. There it was—the arena where the legendary troupe performed. Wooden structures crisscrossed between the platforms, creating paths through the air. Suspended platforms hung at different heights, swaying gently. One day she would flip and soar through those very spaces. One day the Skywheel Performers would call her one of their own. But today, she had taken the first step. She had made it to their world.
