Chloe unlocked the angular cottage and stepped inside. Dust floated in the morning light. She needed to learn what running a real clinic required. Her rainbow medic kit held basic supplies, but a practice needed more. She walked through each empty room, measuring spaces with her steps. This room could hold exam tables. That corner could store medicine. She pulled out a notebook and sketched a simple floor plan. Each line brought her closer to opening day. By afternoon, she sat on the front step and reviewed her list. Equipment costs, licensing fees, and supply orders filled two pages. The numbers looked big, but she wasn't scared. Every great practice started with one empty room and one determined doctor. The next morning, Chloe spotted a cottage down the beach with windows shaped like puppy paws. The roof looked like adorable puppy ears. She knocked on the door and met a retired doctor who offered to teach her. For three weeks, Chloe studied medical books at the kitchen table. She learned how to examine patients and read symptoms. She practiced bandaging and taking temperatures. Each lesson filled gaps in her knowledge. Back at her cottage, Chloe set up a wooden chest outside the front door. The chest had a sturdy surface perfect for working outdoors. She could examine patients in the fresh air when the weather was nice. She placed a flask on top that shimmered with iridescent patterns. The container held clean water for washing hands and sterilizing tools. The desert heat made water precious. Chloe stood back and looked at her progress. The cottage had a plan. She had training. Her outdoor workspace was ready. She opened her notebook and crossed off three items from her list. Tomorrow she would order her first batch of real medical supplies. Her practice was becoming real, one step at a time.
