Arnold adjusted his Canadiens cap and stared at the empty storefront on Rue Sainte-Catherine. His dream was simple: build the best pro shop in Montreal, a place where golfers would gather to swap stories and buy gear. He pressed his weathered palm against the glass window. The rent was too high. The landlord wanted first and last month up front. Arnold walked three blocks to a park where he'd spotted a driving range the day before. He unzipped his golf bag and pulled out his seven iron. The morning sun warmed his shoulders as he placed a ball on the grass. This was his plan: hit balls every day where people could see him. Word would spread. Golfers would ask questions. Maybe someone would know about cheaper rent, or want to invest in a shop. He swung smooth and clean. The ball sailed straight and true across the green expanse.
