Richard Reilly stood at the edge of Fort Orynth's crumbling south wall, his orange tail flicking as he studied the abandoned barracks. The old military post had seen better days, but it had bones—good ones. He needed a real home for the Rangers, a place to train new recruits and plan operations. His paws traced the rough concrete foundation. The structure could hold. With reinforcement and steel plating, this building would become the Rangers' main headquarters—a bunker painted in olive green, brown, tan, and grey to match the surrounding terrain. Richard paced the length of the cleared field behind the barracks. Rangers needed more than walls and a roof. They needed to be sharp, fast, and strong. He marked spots in the dirt with his boot, planning each obstacle. A rope climb here, a wall traverse there, balance beams and tire runs between them. The obstacle course would push every recruit to their limits and prepare them for real danger. The town square in nearby Ivanpath Village needed something too. Richard walked the cobblestones, counting his steps to the center. Rangers scattered across the region needed a way to assemble quickly. Citizens needed warnings when threats approached. He stopped at the square's heart and looked up, imagining a tall metal pole rising above the rooftops. A siren mounted at the top would cut through any noise, calling his team to action or alerting everyone to run. Richard adjusted his cap and headed back toward the fort. The Rangers would have their home. They would train hard on the course until every movement became instinct. The siren would stand ready in the square, silent until the moment it was needed. Everything was taking shape, piece by piece, exactly as he'd planned.
