Sir Farewell Sinclair adjusted his tall hat and studied his reflection in the shop window. His flower-patterned suit blazed with color against the dull morning street. Today was the day he would finally catch the attention of Okie Dokie's high society. He had practiced his manners, memorized proper greetings, and saved enough coins to attend the garden party at Bluebell Manor. The refined ladies and gentlemen there would see he was more than just a cheerful face in a loud suit. The garden party went poorly. The guests smiled at him but turned away when he tried to join their conversations. They sipped tea with their backs to him. By sunset, Sir Farewell walked home with heavy steps.
