Jason MacGregor stood outside the flower shop, his breath making white clouds in the cold air. He'd walked past this place three times already today. His hands were shoved deep in his coat pockets, and his heart hammered against his ribs. Inside those windows was his answer—the key to winning back Ella's heart. One grand gesture. That's all he needed. Something big enough to show her he'd changed, that he was worth another chance. He pushed through the door. A bell jingled above his head. The shop smelled like roses and soil. A wooden cart sat near the window, covered in bright sunflowers and green vines. He ran his fingers along the yellow petals. These were Ella's favorite. He'd buy a dozen—no, two dozen. But flowers alone wouldn't be enough. She'd seen him bring flowers before. This had to be bigger. Jason walked through town, the sunflowers bundled in his arms. His eyes caught on the community board near the square. People posted notices there every day—lost cats, piano lessons, yard sales. He stopped. A sign with hearts and soft pink colors hung in the corner, advertising a wedding fair. His mind raced. What if he posted something there? A message she couldn't miss. A message the whole town would see. His palms started to sweat. He knew where to take her. The Scottish restaurant on the hill had stone walls and candlelight in the windows. He'd walked past it last week and thought of her then. That's where he'd do it. He'd book the best table, fill it with sunflowers, and invite her properly—publicly. No more quiet apologies or half-hearted promises. This time, everyone would know. This time, she'd see he meant it.
