Chapter 1

Mira spread her notes across the library table, her quill flying as she sketched diagrams of Puffskeins and Nifflers. She wanted to train magical creatures to help disabled witches and wizards, just like her Muggle cousin's service dog had changed his whole life. The data was all there—Kneazles detecting harmful potions, Puffskeins humming alerts for deaf witches, Nifflers fetching dropped wands. She tapped her finger on the parchment, a grin spreading across her face. First step: gather more proof. She needed field research, real observations, actual measurements. Her bag was already packed with diagnostic charms borrowed from Professor Silvanus's teaching assistant. Tomorrow she'd head to Gummy Bear Cove where stress levels dropped and magical frequencies spiked. The numbers would tell her everything. The palm tree rose above the candy landscape, its trunk sturdy and tall. Mira climbed the wooden ladder, her bag bouncing against her hip. The treehouse perched in the branches looked perfect—windows on all sides for observation, enough space for equipment and creatures. She dropped her bag on the floor and pulled out her notebook. This would be her training center, the place where she'd teach Puffskeins to recognize danger signals and Nifflers to fetch on command. She set up magical butterflies made from old books near the treehouse entrance. Their paper wings glowed softly as they fluttered between the palm fronds. A Puffskein could practice moving around them without getting distracted. A Niffler could learn to dodge and weave, building the agility needed for real assistant work. Mira measured the distance between each butterfly, writing down exact numbers in her notebook. But she needed helpers—actual witches and wizards who needed assistance. She found an old wooden board covered in sprouting grass and daisies. Perfect for posting notices. Mira pinned up a paper asking for anyone who needed magical creature help to contact her. She stepped back, reading her message twice. Her research library section at Hogwarts would have to wait. First, she needed proof that this could work. The treehouse stood ready. The training course was set. Now she just had to find the people who needed her creatures most.
