Chapter 1

Elara stood before the crumbling town hall, her black and white striped fur catching the morning light. The building's windows were broken, its roof sagged, and weeds pushed through the stone steps. But she saw something different—the grand structure it used to be. Her dream was to restore every inch of this place. She pressed her small paws against the wooden doors and pushed them open. Inside, dust hung thick in the air. Sunlight streamed through holes in the ceiling, making bright patches on the floor. Elara walked slowly through the main room, her claws clicking on the stone. She stopped when she spotted fragments of colored glass scattered near the walls. She picked one up and held it to the light. Animals and wildflowers were painted on the pieces. These must have come from the windows that once filled this hall with color. Green moss covered the walls in thick patches, soft and damp under her paw. This building had been the heart of the community once. She would make it shine again. Elara set the glass piece down carefully and pulled out a small notebook from her coat. She began to write a list of everything that needed fixing. Her notebook filled quickly. New roof. Clean the moss from the walls. Repair the stone steps. Find glass to remake the windows. The list grew longer with each minute. Elara knew she couldn't do this work alone. She needed help from the town. She stepped outside and spotted an old community board near the entrance, its wood frame covered in moss and wildflowers. Perfect. She brushed away some of the growth and saw faded papers still pinned underneath. This board could bring everyone together. She would put up notices here asking for volunteers. People could share their skills and offer supplies. The town hall restoration would start with this simple board. Elara pulled out a blank sheet of paper and began writing her first call for help. She finished the notice and pinned it to the board. Her message was simple and clear. The town hall needed volunteers. Anyone with tools, materials, or strong arms should come help. She stepped back and read it one more time. Movement caught her eye near the side of the building. A small wooden cart sat there, half hidden by wildflowers and moss. Elara walked over and tested the wheels. They turned with effort but still worked. This cart would be useful for moving supplies. She could haul stones, wood beams, and glass across town with it. Elara gripped the handle and pulled. The cart rolled forward, leaving a trail through the tall grass. Her restoration project had officially begun.
