Near the square, she found a beautiful cascade well made from polished desert rock. Water flowed down through tiered basins, each level catching the light. A plaque at the base honored a gremlin who had mastered beauty techniques decades ago. Bonnie touched the cool stone and watched the water move. If that gremlin could become a legend, Bonnie could learn Dottie's routine. The well proved that others had walked this path before her. Beyond the square, Bonnie spotted Granny's outdoor teaching area. A tree stood nearby, covered in stained glass bottles that hung from every branch. The bottles caught the desert sun and threw colored light across the ground—blue, green, amber, and red. Bonnie walked through the dancing colors and spun slowly. The light patterns shifted and mixed on her pink dress. Even simple things could be beautiful when you paid attention to them. That evening, Bonnie climbed down into her hidden underground space beneath an old storage building. She had set up mirrors along the walls and placed candles for good light. This was her private place to practice without anyone watching. She unpacked her notebook and the cream samples Granny had given her. The room felt safe and quiet.
