Chapter 1

Chaos sat alone beneath an ancient oak, fingers pressed against the rough bark. Family harmony—that was the dream that kept them going through endless ages. Every god, every descendant, united at last. Well, almost every one. Kronos could rot in his prison forever. The others, though—Zeus, Hera, Hestia, even bitter Ares—they could find peace together. Chaos closed their eyes and felt the tree's quiet strength. It would take work. It would take forever. But forever was all they had. They stood and brushed dirt from their clothes. A gathering needed a place—somewhere that felt right. Chaos walked through the forest until they found a clearing where sunlight cut through the branches. Here. They raised both hands and pulled energy from the void inside them. Stone rose from the earth, carved itself into columns and walls. Intricate patterns spread across the surfaces, wild and unpredictable. The temple took shape, dedicated to what they were—untamed, necessary, the beginning of everything. Inside, there would be room for all of them. A place where old wounds might finally heal. Chaos stepped back and studied the building. It looked ready. Now came the harder part: convincing the family to show up. A meeting place wasn't enough. The family needed something to gather around, something visible. Chaos returned to the twisted tree where they'd first imagined this dream. Dark tendrils spiraled from its knotty trunk. They pressed their palm against it and felt its strange energy pulse back. This tree would be their gathering point—a place where anyone could find them. Where announcements could be made and heard. Chaos carved their mark into the bark with one finger. The family would know to come here. But words faded and memories twisted over time. Chaos needed something permanent. They shaped stone with their hands, forming a statue in the center of the clearing. Swirling patterns covered its surface, each line representing a connection, a relationship, a thread between family members. Chaos stepped back and watched light play across the carved faces. Here was the record of who they were—all of them, bound together despite the pain. The statue would remind everyone why this mattered. Why unity was worth the struggle. Chaos touched the cold stone one last time, then turned toward the temple. The pieces were in place. Now they just had to wait.
