Lenore stands in the center of the clearing, watching pale shapes drift between the trees. They move without purpose, circling back on themselves like they've forgotten where they meant to go. She knows that feeling. The spirits need something to anchor them, a beacon that says someone remembers, someone cares. She kneels and begins to trace symbols in the dirt. The patterns come from memory, half-learned and half-felt, the kind of knowledge she carries in her bones. Stone rises where her fingers pass, cold and solid, climbing higher with each mark she completes. The gate takes shape around her, its archway glowing with soft light that cuts through the darkness. The wandering spirits pause, then turn toward it. One by one, they pass through, their forms steadying as they cross the threshold. Lenore watches the last one fade into light and knows this is what she was meant to do — create a path for those who have none.
