Sable Nightwhisker swept the wooden floor of her general store, her tail flicking with each stroke of the broom. Dust swirled in the morning light streaming through the front window. She paused and looked around at the half-empty shelves and quiet aisles. One day, traders from across Tongassia would come here first. One day, her store would be the place everyone talked about. She set the broom against the wall and walked to her workbench. A small block of wax sat next to dried forest leaves she'd collected yesterday. Sable pressed a leaf into the soft wax, then carved her merchant's mark deep into the center. The Forest Leaf Certification Seal would prove her goods were real. Fair weights, honest prices, quality guaranteed. Outside, hammering echoed from the town's edge. Sable stepped into the street and watched workers raise a wooden gate. Merchant symbols covered the carved surface, and torch holders flanked each side. The Merchant's Emblem Wooden Gate would greet every trader who arrived. She pictured wagons rolling through, loaded with goods from distant places. Her yellow eyes narrowed as she imagined something bigger. Not just her small store with its creaky floorboards. A real trading hub with glass walls and metal trim—the Black Cat Emporium and Trade Merchants Exchange. Merchants would gather there to buy, sell, and make deals. She touched the certification seal in her pocket. Every legendary place started somewhere small. Today, she was building that foundation, one step at a time.
