Serafina's Arc

Chapter 1 of 1

After months of traveling from one place to another, Serafina finally reached the island of Solara. She hadn’t come looking for adventure. For once, she wanted the opposite. She wanted somewhere quiet. Somewhere warm and beautiful, where the days moved slowly and nobody expected her to constantly be searching for what came next. She had heard stories about Solara—its peaceful harbor, strange forests, beautiful beaches, and the old island traditions that made it unlike anywhere she’d been before. Her small boat reached the harbor just before sunset. Serafina stepped onto the dock with a worn travel bag over her shoulder and looked around. The island was quieter than she’d imagined. Lanterns glowed along the wooden buildings, the ocean stretched endlessly behind her, and somewhere nearby, she could hear music drifting through the evening air. For the first time in a long time, she didn’t feel the need to leave. She wandered through the harbor until she found an old boarding house tucked between two larger buildings. Its windows glowed warmly against the dusk. She stepped inside, hoping they might have a room. Instead, she nearly walked straight into someone. “Careful.” Serafina looked up. A tall man with dark hair tied loosely behind his head stood in the doorway, carrying a stack of supplies. He raised an eyebrow at her. “New here?” Serafina glanced around the cozy boarding house before looking back at him. “Yeah. I’m looking for somewhere to stay.” He studied her for a moment before stepping aside. “Then I suppose you’ve come to the right place.” “Rowan,” he introduced himself. “Serafina.” Neither of them knew it yet, but that simple meeting would be the beginning of her life on Solara.
