Mira soybird's dream is becoming the most famous YouTuber that plays Mario Kart.
Mira adjusted her crown and leaned closer to the webcam, watching the chat scroll past in a blur of usernames and emojis. Becoming the most famous Mario Kart YouTuber in the world meant paying attention to every single comment, and right now, one comment made her freeze mid-reach for a cookie. PurpleStar_88: when do LOYAL fans get the kindness trophy??? ive been here since day 1 The chat exploded with responses. Mira's fingers tightened around her Nintendo Switch as she read the words again. PurpleStar_88 wasn't loyal at all — they voted mean in every single poll, and Crumbles had pointed at the Timeout Corner just yesterday while staring at their username. But the Fan Support Tribute List hung right there on the wall behind her, visible to everyone watching. Tyler_Gamer99 was at the top. ChocolateRain_47 wasn't on it at all. And PurpleStar_88 had been in chat longer than almost anyone. Mira set down her Switch and picked up the heart-shaped trophy from her desk. The gold caught the light from her ring light. She could give it to PurpleStar_88 right now — prove she was fair, gain more subscribers, look like the bigger person. Or she could say no and let everyone see she was keeping track of something they didn't know about yet. Either choice would tell chat exactly what kind of YouTuber she was going to be. She placed the trophy back on the desk and turned to face the camera with her brightest smile. "You know what, PurpleStar_88? You've been here a really long time. But Crumbles McFrosty the Third and I have been watching something very important." She pulled up the poll function on her streaming software. "Chat gets to vote: Does PurpleStar_88 deserve the Kindness and Support Trophy? Yes or no. You have sixty seconds." The votes started pouring in immediately, and Mira watched each one appear on her second monitor, her smile never wavering.
Mira needed Tyler to stay. Tyler was proof that even troublemakers could become loyal — the kind of story that made a channel famous. But she also needed PurpleStar_88 to know that winning a vote didn't erase what Mira had been tracking all along. She grabbed a marker and a sticky note from her desk, writing in bold letters: "oh. NOOO.ooo you're picking favorites..." She held it up to the camera. "Tyler_Gamer99, this is what PurpleStar would say if I gave YOU the trophy instead of following the vote. But I'm building something here." She opened her Minecraft world and started placing birch logs in a golden-roofed structure next to the Timeout Corner. Chat went wild asking what she was doing. Mira built fast, adding a pool with golden trim and a hot tub. "This is the Democracy Cabin," she announced. "Everyone who wins a fair vote gets their name on a plaque here. PurpleStar_88 won fair. Tyler_Gamer99, you voted in that poll. You helped make it fair." She placed a sign with PurpleStar's name on the cabin wall, then turned back to the camera. "But Crumbles wants to show everyone something." She held up her hand like a puppet, making Crumbles point slowly toward the wooden timeout building visible in the corner of her Minecraft screen. The chat exploded with speculation. "PurpleStar_88 gets the trophy because chat voted," Mira said, her voice dropping to something more serious than usual. "But Crumbles and I are still watching. Every vote. Every comment. And the Democracy Cabin is right next to the Timeout Corner for a reason." She picked up the Kindness and Support Trophy and held it to the camera. "Tyler_Gamer99, you're still number one on my list. You're the one who gave Gerald his sword. But if you leave now, everyone will know you quit because one vote didn't go your way. Famous YouTubers don't quit. They keep watching." The chat paused for three long seconds. Then Tyler_Gamer99's message appeared: "fine. but im watching purplestar closer than crumbles is." Mira grinned and placed the sticky note on the wall next to her Fan Support Tribute List — a reminder that she'd kept her most loyal fan by showing him exactly what she was building. She'd proven she could follow the votes and still keep control. The Democracy Cabin stood next to the Timeout Corner on her screen, and everyone in chat now knew that winning a vote and staying out of trouble were two very different things.
