Queen Serenity's dream is reuniting her scattered daughter and royal court across their next lifetime on a distant world..
Queen Serenity knelt on the cracked floor of the sacred chamber, her broken silver crystal cupped in both hands. Above her, the carved dome still glowed with the last light of her fallen kingdom. She had one task left. Send her daughter forward. Send the guardians forward. Give them a chance at a life on a distant world, even one without her in it. The crystal was split down the middle. A thin fracture ran from tip to base. If she poured the rebirth spell through it now, the magic would shatter mid-cast, and her daughter would be lost between worlds. A quiet voice spoke behind her. Sailor Pluto stepped from the shadow of a pillar, her six-winged bird drifting at her shoulder. "The crystal will not hold," she said. "But a heart might." She did not offer comfort. She offered a fact. Then Celestius came forward. Serenity had not called him, but he had come. He pressed his palms over the fracture and bowed his head. Light poured from his chest into the silver stone. The crack sealed. The chamber walls drank his glow and held it fast, ready to anchor the spell. When the light faded, Celestius was gone. In his place, on the chamber floor, lay a small pendant carved from dark star matter. Inside its hollow center, colorful smoke turned in slow circles. Serenity lifted it with shaking hands. She felt him there, alive and folded into the swirl. She stood. The crystal was whole. The spell would hold. She raised her hands, and the rebirth magic answered at last, carrying her daughter and the court toward Earth. Around her neck, the pendant burned warm against her skin — proof that the sacrifice had been real, and a quiet promise she could carry forward.
The pendant still burned warm at her throat as Serenity climbed into the glass chamber above the rite. From inside its panoramic walls she could see everything — the bright arch of starlight planted in the rock below, and the slow spiral of color where her daughter and the court hung suspended between worlds. The binding was not finished. She had to hold it until the last thread tied. Her hands shook on the rail. Her knees buckled once, then again. The silver crystal tower at the arch's base pulsed in time with her heartbeat, and her heartbeat was slowing. Sailor Pluto stepped into the chamber without sound. Her staff tapped the floor once. "You will not last the rite," she said. "I have measured it. You are short by minutes." Serenity did not turn. "Then give me the minutes." Pluto considered her a long moment. "I cannot give you life. But I can hold the tether while you cast. My post is patience. Lend me the thread." She lifted the pendant from Serenity's neck and pressed it into the crystal tower. The swirl inside it bloomed outward, and the spiral of souls steadied. Serenity poured the last of her strength into the binding. The arch flared white. The tether held. The souls locked into their new lives on Earth, bound and safe — for now. Serenity sank to the chamber floor, hollow and breathing. The rite was done. But Pluto's hand still rested on the tower, and her eyes were fixed on a horizon Serenity could not see. "Something noticed," Pluto said quietly. "The light we made was bright."
Serenity sagged against the chamber wall. Pink and gold light rippled off her skin and faded into the dark, taking pieces of her with it. The silver cord still wrapped her wrist, but its threads were thinning. Pluto knelt beside her and spoke without softness. "You are coming apart. You need an anchor, or you will not see her wake." Serenity tried to answer and could not. Her hand passed through her own knee. Above the chamber, four lights pierced the dome and dropped into the rite. They landed in a ring around her. Sailor Astra in white. Sailor Lumen in pale gold. Sailor Vesper in deep blue. Sailor Tessen in soft green. They had been gone five hundred years. None of them spoke. They only looked at their Queen, and lowered their gloves to the floor. Pluto rose and joined the ring. "They will not sing you out," she said. "They will tone you down. Slow your light until it can keep." She pressed the pendant into Serenity's palm. "Hold this. Hold her." The four guardians hummed a single low note. The note bent the air. Around Serenity, a concentric spiral of light began to turn, band inside band, drawing her unraveling threads back toward her heart. Her skin cooled. Her edges hardened. The pink and gold stopped leaking out and began to set, layer by layer, into clear shining crystal. Her gown stilled into folds that would not move again. Her face lifted, calm, eyes half closed. When the tone ended, a crystal statue of the Queen stood at the center of the rite, the pendant sealed inside her chest. Pluto laid a hand on the cold shoulder. "Sleep," she said. "She will remember you. We will wait." The guardians bowed once and were gone. Only the statue remained, breathing slow light into the dark.
The crystal statue of the Queen stood inside a tall mirrored tower, light pulsing softly from her chest. Above her, a cracked glass sphere drifted in the air. Inside it, mist swirled and glowed. It was the thread between her sleeping mind and the four guardians who had toned her down. Astra, Lumen, Vesper, and Tessen knelt at the base of the tower. They closed their eyes and reached for her through the sphere. Serenity's voice came thin and slow. "Find her. Before the dark does." She tried to give them a name. The word broke apart before it left her. A ripple of pink and gold light burst from the sphere and contracted into the dark. The mist inside dimmed. The cracks spread. Vesper opened her eyes. "We are losing her words." Tessen lifted a round stone from her glove, ringed with shifting colors. "Then we hold what she cannot say." They pressed the stone against the tower. Serenity poured what was left of the thought, not a name, but a feeling, into the rings. The stone drank it in. Its colors locked. Inside the sphere, the mist steadied. The guardians stood. "A thousand years," Astra said. "We sleep in shifts. One wakes, one searches. The stone will know her when we touch her." They bowed to the tower and faded. The sphere went still. Serenity could no longer speak, but the feeling was carried now. Not her daughter's name. Only the shape of her love, sealed in a stone that would wait.
