Red Hood's dream is fighting for freedom, beauty, truth, and love.
Red Hood walked through the quiet square at dusk, his scarlet scarf snapping in the wind. He scanned every shadow, ready to shield anyone in need. Freedom, truth, and love were his compass, and he followed it without fail. A woman crashed to her knees beside an ornate pink bench, her hands shaking. She clutched at his sleeve and sobbed. "My daughter," she gasped. "They took her." Red Hood knelt, steady, and listened. She pressed a glittering necklace into his palm. The gemstone pulsed with a soft blue light. "This is all they left," she whispered. "She was right there, by the welcome house with the green shutters. Then gone." Red Hood stared at the necklace. No tracks. No witness. No name. The glow flickered, fading as he held it. He had a victim, a mother, a trinket, but no thread to pull. Then a sharp voice cut the air. Karen Hagglewood marched over, waving a crumpled receipt. "You! Hero! I saw a hooded man drag a child past my shop today, and the rude clerk refused to call the guards. I demand action!" She thrust the receipt at him. A scribbled address bled through the paper. Red Hood rose. The necklace dimmed in his fist, but the lead burned bright. He had a direction now, and a complaint loud enough to chase.
Red Hood followed the scribbled address to the edge of town. The warehouse rose like a broken tooth against the sky. A massive jagged rock loomed at its gate, its shadows shifting in the fading light. The stone seemed to warn him back. He pressed on. He circled the building, quiet as breath. Near the side wall, an old iron lamppost flickered to life. Fresh boot prints pressed the mud beneath it. Someone had lit it recently. Someone was inside. Red Hood crouched and tightened the laces of his sneakers. The soles were stitched for silence, built to grip and hush every step. He tested a rusted door. Locked. A loud break would send the kidnapper running with the girl. He found a high, broken window instead. He climbed the brick, fingers steady, feet soundless. He slipped through the gap and dropped onto dusty boards without a whisper. The necklace in his pocket pulsed once, soft and blue. He crept along a beam above the warehouse floor. Below, a hooded figure paced beside a small, bound shape. A child. The girl lifted her head, and her eyes caught the faint blue glow leaking from his coat. Red Hood dropped. One strike, clean and fast. The kidnapper crumpled before he could shout. Red Hood cut the ropes and lifted the girl into his arms. She was safe. But as he turned, he saw a second set of footprints in the dust, leading deeper into the dark.
Red Hood held the girl close. Her small hands shook against his coat. The second set of prints led deeper into the dark, but she could not walk, and he could not chase and carry her at once. He had to choose, and choose fast. He slipped out a side door and scanned the lot. Across the way stood a small stone fort, its walls thick and its arch still strong. Ivy climbed the towers. The heavy door held. It would shield her from wind and eyes. He carried her inside and set her on a low bench. Her breath came quick. A sharp voice cut the quiet. An old woman stepped from the shadows, bag swinging, mouth tight. "Took your sweet time, didn't you? This child needs water, not heroics." Karen Hagglewood planted herself beside the girl like a guard dog. Red Hood knelt. He pressed a small glowing stone into the girl's palm, its runes warm and steady. "This keeps you safe," he said. Then he lifted a fine chain from his pocket and clasped it at her neck. "And this calls me back. I will come for you. I promise." He ran back into the warehouse. The dust held more than prints now. A bright sticker clung to a crate, edges curled, colors loud against the gloom. Boom Chika-latta, in pink and blue. A trail of them dotted the floor like crumbs, leading past broken shelves and out a back door into the night. Red Hood followed the bright marks at a dead run. The girl was safe. The hunt was on.
