Bleak Expanse
Thousands of miles of perpetual winter darkness, surrounding a vast mountain at the south pole of the world. Life here is brutal, and very few settlements exist. All trade through the region is controlled by the Vandenberg Railroad Company, and the Bleak Expanse is mostly an intermediate zone between the Confederation (built on the slopes of Mount Ozymandias at the south pole) and Umber (further north, past the far edge of the Expanse).
