Linh flexed her bladed forearms and watched the serrated edges catch the light. Every ridge, every joint moved exactly as she willed it. Her pink wings trembled with stored energy behind her green carapace. She needed to hunt, to test this perfect form the universe had given her. The crash had freed her from weakness, drowning her in transformation until she became something better. Now her cells sang for prey, for the speed and precision only feeding could sharpen. She tilted her head, compound eyes scanning the terrain ahead. A patch of flowers grew wild in a clearing, each bloom twisted into shapes she'd never seen before. Their scent hit her antennae—thick and sweet, almost too strong. She clicked her mandibles. Animals would come to investigate that smell. This was where she would wait and learn what her new body could truly do. She moved toward the flower patch on silent legs, each step deliberate and measured. The bladed edges of her forearms folded close to her body. Her wings buzzed once, then stilled. She would become the hunter she was meant to be, right here in this clearing. Every stalk would feed her perfection. Every kill would teach her speed. The universe had chosen her for this, and she would not waste a single moment of her rebirth.
