Chapter 1

Phi pressed her cheek against the café window, scanning every face that passed. Her blue hair fell across her eyes as she leaned forward. She came here every day, searching for someone who would look at her the way she looked at the world—with complete devotion. Most people walked by without glancing up from their phones. Others hurried past in pairs, already paired off, already settled. She wanted more than that. She needed someone who would burn for her the way she burned inside, someone whose heart would race at the sight of her smile. Phi pulled back from the glass and wiped away the fog her breath had made. Tomorrow she'd come back. Tomorrow she'd keep looking. The sanctuary opened on a Tuesday morning. Phi stood outside the black iron gates and stared up at the gothic arches that curved against the sky. Cosmic colors sparkled through the tall windows—purple, blue, and silver light that seemed to pulse with its own heartbeat. She pushed through the entrance doors. Inside, black columns lined the walls. The ceiling stretched high above her head, decorated with stars that glowed against the dark stone. Other people wandered through the space, talking in small groups or sitting alone at the black benches that lined the walls. This was where she'd find them. This was where someone would finally see her. Phi walked through the main hall, her boots clicking against the floor. The sanctuary felt different from the café. People came here looking for something too. They came here to connect, to find others, to build something new. She would make this place her base. She would meet everyone who walked through these doors until she found the one person who understood what devotion really meant.

Chapter 2

Phi pulled a small notebook from her jacket pocket and opened it to the first page. She needed a plan. Finding someone who matched her passion wouldn't happen by accident. She sat on one of the black benches near the sanctuary's entrance and clicked her pen. At the top of the page, she wrote three words: "Learn to connect." She had to start somewhere. She had to understand what made people open up, what made them trust, what made them stay. Around her, groups talked and laughed together. She studied their body language, the way they leaned toward each other, the way they listened. This was her first lesson. She would watch, practice, and prepare herself for the moment when the right person finally walked through those doors. A shimmer appeared near the back wall of the sanctuary. Colors swirled together—purple, blue, silver—forming a glowing tunnel that seemed to pull at the air around it. Phi stood and walked toward it. The tunnel led somewhere else, somewhere the sanctuary had been hiding. She stepped through. The space on the other side was a library, all black stone and towering shelves filled with thick books. She pulled one down and opened it. The pages showed drawings of people facing each other, talking, listening, staying close through hard times. She read about what devotion actually looked like—not just feeling it, but showing it every day. She copied phrases into her notebook, filling page after page. This was what she needed. She couldn't just want someone devoted to her. She had to understand how that kind of love was built, brick by brick, day by day. When she finally closed the book, she knew where to begin. She would come back here tomorrow and learn more.

Chapter 3

Phi stepped out of the library portal and back into the sanctuary's main hall. Her notebook bulged with everything she'd learned about devotion and connection. But knowledge wasn't enough. She needed to practice, to grow, to become someone worthy of the passion she sought. The sanctuary offered more than just meeting spaces—it held training grounds, workshops, places designed to help people become their best selves. If she wanted to find her match, she had to prepare herself first. She walked toward the eastern corridor where a sign pointed to skill development rooms. Tomorrow she'd start building herself into the person she needed to be. Morning came and Phi returned to the sanctuary. She followed the corridor until it opened into a vast garden behind the main building. Blue flowers covered every surface, glowing with soft light even in daylight. The petals seemed to pulse with energy. Black stone paths wound between the flower beds. Small seating areas dotted the space, each one surrounded by the strange blue blooms. A board near the entrance listed sessions by time—structured meetings where people could practice talking, listening, connecting. Phi signed up for the next available slot. She sat on a black bench and waited, watching others move between stations, greeting new faces every few minutes. This was where she could test what she'd learned. This was where she could build the skills she needed. The session began and Phi moved from person to person, practicing eye contact and conversation. Some people were nervous. Others talked too much. A few seemed just as serious as she was about learning. With each new face, she got a little better at listening, at asking questions that mattered. The blue flowers seemed to glow brighter as the sun moved across the sky. By the time the session ended, her notebook had three new pages of observations. She understood now that finding devotion wasn't just about searching—it was about preparing herself to recognize it and hold onto it when it finally arrived.

Chapter 4

Phi walked through the sanctuary's central plaza, her notebook tucked under her arm. She'd spent weeks learning about connection and practicing with strangers in the garden. But something still felt missing. The sanctuary held more spaces she hadn't explored yet—places where people didn't just meet, but where they shared pieces of themselves. She needed to understand what made people vulnerable, what made them open their hearts completely. A narrow hallway branched off from the main corridor. She followed it until the walls opened into a small circular room. Shelves lined the space, each one holding objects people had left behind—tokens of memories, reminders of moments that mattered. She picked up a worn bracelet and turned it over in her palm. Someone had loved this enough to keep it, then trusted this place enough to share it. That kind of trust didn't come from practiced conversation. It came from something deeper. She set the bracelet back and made a note in her book. To find devotion, she had to learn how to be trusted with the things people held most dear. She left the room and walked back toward the garden. The sun was setting now, and the blue flowers along the black stone paths glowed brighter in the dim light. Their translucent petals cast soft circles of blue across the ground. She stopped and crouched beside one. The glow reminded her of the way people looked when they talked about someone they loved—lit up from the inside. She touched the petals gently. Even Vestria's flowers seemed to understand what she was searching for. Beauty that went deeper than the surface. Light that came from within. She stood and walked the path slowly, letting the blue glow guide her steps. She had learned to connect, to listen, to share. Now she needed to trust that when the right person arrived, she would recognize them by their own light.
