A modern‑day, technology‑induced dystopian war… with a wicked streak of humour. 

The world of The War of the Witches looks a lot like our own - smartphones, smart fridges, smart toasters that are too smart - but beneath the Wi-Fi signals and LED glow, an ancient magical ecosystem is cracking under the pressure of modern tech. 

For centuries, witches lived in relative harmony, their magic woven through forests, libraries, storm clouds and the occasional cranky crow. But then humanity invented the Cloud - and witches discovered to their horror, that it wasn’t a real cloud at all. It was a giant humming digital void that began swallowing spells, distorting enchantments and occasionally auto-correcting incantations into catastrophic nonsense.

This sparked a schism:

1. The Techno-Mancers - Witches who embraced modern tech, plugging their magic directly into servers, satellites and social networks. They cast spells through hacked routers, enchanted USB sticks and glitchy AR goggles. Their magic is fast, powerful and wildly unstable - like giving a toddler a nuclear-powered Etch A Sketch.

2. The Old-World Covens - Tradional witches who refuse to let technology corrupt the ancient craft. They rely on hherbs, runes, moonlight and the occasional passive-aggressive owl. The blame modern devices for everything: broken spells, dying forests and why tier tea never tastes the same anymore.

3. The Neutral Circle - A tiny, exhausted group of witches who just want everyone to stop blowing up the ley lines and maybe recycle once in awhile.

What Started the War - When the Techno-Mancers accidentally uploaded a spellbook to the Cloud, the magic inside it mutated into a self-aware algorithm - a “machine-god” made of corrupted spellcode. It began rewriting natural magic, draining forests, hijacking familiars and turning broomsticks into Bluetooth devices that constantly needed firmware updates.

Both sides blames each other. Both sides were right. And, so the war began - a chaotic, glitchy magical mess.
